Amsterdam Unfiltered is not a travel blog. It's a collection of places that actually matter — written by someone who lives here.
Amsterdam is one of the most written-about cities in Europe. It also has some of the worst travel content. The same canals, the same coffee shops, the same walking tours, the same “hidden gems” that somehow appear in every guide and are therefore not hidden at all.
This guide is different, not because I’m trying to be contrarian, but because I actually live here. I know which markets are worth the commute and which ones exist primarily so tourists can say they went to a market. I know that the Rijksmuseum queue on a Saturday morning is a specific kind of misery, and I know where to go instead. I know the best coffee is not on the tourist streets, and that the best Indonesian food is in the west, and that there is a rowing club on a canal in Jordaan where you can just show up and watch people row on Tuesday evenings.
What you’ll find here: Places worth visiting, with honest assessments of what makes them good and when they stop being good. Practical information — how to get there, when to go, what to expect. Opinions, clearly labelled as such.
What you won’t find: Sponsored content. Affiliate links. “Amsterdam in 3 days” itineraries. Lists of the best rooftop bars. Anything that could have been written without visiting.
